Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night hasn't been very intriguing to me so far. It's fun to see it acted out in class, but the romantic entanglements typically bore me. The jokes were good when we watch a video of the play being acted out, but the play on paper seems dry. For the inquiry project, we will be reading Battle Royale for our second book. I need to get started on that this weekend.

First Essay
I recently completed the first essay of the spring inquiry project. It was based on Watchmen and an interview we conducted. The prompt I was writing on had to do with violence and human nature. I used examples from these sources to prove that it indeed was. Before the essay, I made no outline or thought about the stance I would take. I went in to Stephanie's room, and everything just came out. It was pretty easy, but my beliefs might change with my next book. We were going to read Battle Royale, but then we found out the book was over 600 pages long. I think we're going to switch to Fight Club instead. Thoughts?

Lyrics
Everything I have posted to this blog so far has been related to Stephanie's class. This week, I'd like to share something of a different nature. These are some lyrics I've written for a song I'm working on called Painted Eyes. If anybody reading this is a hardcore fan, they might realize the last line is a reference to an Unbroken song.
Vivid days and livid nights
The skies seem vacant through these painted eyes
A storm is brewing inside these walls
Find shelter to hide from the tension
There was no motive, only a joke of an alibi
We’re all criminals and sadists
We tightly close our glass eyes to shut out the horror
We'll relish the day when life mean something
Violent and virulent
Human nature is repulsive
People act like they have the answers
No one does
No one is safe
Dive into the rubble with me
No chance of salvation
No hope for elation
We live and die with our opinions

Who Watches The Watchmen?
Currently, I'm about 150 pages into Watchmen, and it is enthralling. It's my second time reading it, and I still love how jumbled the story is and how crazy Rorschach is. However, I'm unsure which stance I will take on my prompt, which is questioning if violent behavior is human nature or not. With Watchmen, you could probably make a good case for either. I guess I'll just have to keep reading and completing Stephanie's tasks.
